Houston Memory ReCode Center: Improving Cognitive Decline
PreCode/ReCode
What is ReCode 2.0?
The ReCode Program is a functional medicine approach that is designed to change the body’s biochemistry to support optimal brain function. The ReCode Progam is Dr. Dale Bredesen’s breakthrough approach to achieving unprecedented sustained results in Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline treatment. Dr. Bredesen is an internationally recognized expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases. He is the Chief Science Officer at Apollo Health and has dedicated his career to understanding and treating Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Bredesen’s research led to the development of the ReCODE Protocol™, which aims to prevent and reverse cognitive decline. His protocol is personalized and includes lifestyle, nutrition, and health/environmental changes. Dr. Bredeson has identified over 36 root causes that contribute to cognitive decline. These include infections, toxins, head injury, lack of nutrient support, hormonal insufficiencies, sleep disturbances, glucose dysregulation, vascular issues, and inflammation.
Bredeson has documented clinical success using a customized, precision approach to identify multiple causes of cognitive decline, which may be different in each patient. Bredeson and colleagues published a study titled “Precision Medicine Approach to Alzheimer’s Disease: Successful Pilot Project,” in The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease. The study used in-depth analysis of each patient’s genetics, nutrient and hormonal deficiencies, pathogens, toxicants, disease biomarkers, and history of brain trauma to develop a personalized, comprehensive plan of care. The study demonstrated a stunning 84% improvement in cognitive function. Normally our brains shrink (atrophy) an average of 2.2% per year. In the Bredeson study, brain gray matter increased by a rate of +0.3% per year. Atrophy of the memory center in the brain, called the hippocampus improved by 63%. In other words, many brain researchers now believe that brain neurons can re-grow!
The current ReCode program is based on over 30 years of Bredesen’s laboratory and clinical research that have led to hundreds of peer reviewed articles which are uncovering the science behind the memory loss associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
